The International Handball Federation (IHF) has entered a partnership with accommodation comparison site Trivago for next month's Men's World Championship in Poland and Sweden.

Trivago has been named as the official online travel partner for the event, and is set to have its branding featured on the indoor floor graphics, social media and print materials.

It is the first time Trivago has partnered with the IHF, with the deal secured by sports marketing agency Sportfive, which is overseeing its marketing and media rights for all World Championship events through to 2031.

IHF President Hassan Moustafa welcomed the partnership.

"Ahead of the 28th IHF Men's World Championship, we are delighted to share the news of our partnership with Trivago," the long-serving Egyptian official said.

"Our fans travel from all around the world to watch their team perform and it is our wish that they enjoy this experience to the full.

"Now, thanks also to our partnership with the official IHF TV and marketing rights partner Sportfive, we can make that true."

Trivago chief executive Axel Hefer believes the partnership can be a fruitful one.

"The IHF Men's World Championship is a unique opportunity for thousands of fans to meet and celebrate," Hefer said.

"The competition shows that sport and travel have a common goal: bringing people together.

"We believe that this partnership with the International Handball Federation is a great match for Trivago."

Four venues in Poland and five in Sweden are set to be used for the IHF Men's World Championship, which is scheduled for January 11 to 29 2023.
