Today's Alpine Ski World Cup men's super-G race in Val Gardena has been cancelled because of poor weather conditions.

It is the sixth men's race to fall victim to the weather this season.

Just eight have gone ahead.

A downhill contest remains scheduled at the Italian resort tomorrow and organisers will hope conditions improve.

Downhill racing could be held yesterday, with Austria's Vincent Kriechmayr securing a first win of the season.

Switzerland's Marco Odermatt - second yesterday - remains the overall leader as he seeks to win a second crystal globe in a row.

Giant slalom contests are also scheduled in Alta Badia on Sunday and Monday (December 18 and 19), so there is no immediate space for re-arranging today's cancelled race.
