The Tunisian National Olympic Committee (TNOC) has applauded the country's baseball and softball federation for developing the sport.

The TNOC honoured the Tunisian Baseball and Softball Federation (FTBS) during its annual Olympic Torch Ceremony for its success on and off the field.

Sports journalists in the country vote to decide who gets the Olympic Torch of Sports Governance award.

The FTBS was acknowledged for the results achieved by the country's national team and for developing baseball5, baseball and softball.

Tunisia finished third in the first-ever Baseball5 African Championship in Tanzania.

At the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup in Mexico, they bagged sixth spot.

This was the eighth edition of the Olympic Torch Ceremony.

A total of 25 awards are presented to athletes, umpires, coaches and National Federations during the event.

The national baseball and softball federation was nominated for the same award in 2021 but did not win.

Tunisia made its World Cup debut last year and became the 79th nation and ninth African country to feature in a World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) event.
