The Minister of Youth and Sports in Nigeria, Sunday Dare, has donated a teqball table to the newly-constructed Ifeanyi Ubah Sports House in Nnewi.

Dare said he was looking forward to seeing what development could come at the facility.

"I am always very excited to see individuals who are very passionate about grassroot sports development and this is what Senator Ifeanyi Ubah is all about," said Dare, according to Nigerian sports publication Sports 24/7.

"This is what is called grassroot development and this multi-purpose sports house will not only benefit the people of Nnewi but Nigeria Sports ecosystem at large.

"This multi-purpose complex can serve many sports and this is why I am donating teqball for the sports house."

This facility was named after politician and Anambra South Senatorial District Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

Nigeria Olympic Committee President Habu Gumel said in 2021 he would help the Nigeria Teqball Federation's (NIGTEQ) development ambitions by helping the sport "move faster" across Africa.

Gumel is also the President of NIGTEQ and worked with the International Teqball Federation that year to donate tables to 29 of Nigeria's 36 states.

At that time, 56 tables had been donated by the Hungarian Embassy to the country.

Late last year, teqball was a demonstration sport at the Nigerian National Sports Festival too.
