The Austrians also had two silver and two bronze medals to their name while Italy and Germany shared second place overall with four golds, four silvers, and two bronzes each.

Double Beijing 2022 champion Johannes Aigner and his guide Matteo Fleischmann led the Austrians as he also picked up two gold medals in the Spanish ski resort of Espot.

The 17-year-old was victorious in the men's visually impaired downhill and Alpine combined disciplines with respective times of 48.38sec and 1min 44.24sec.

His compatriot Markus Salcher also won two golds, in the men's standing downhill and super-G, while his 19-year-old sister Veronika picked up the women's visually impaired title with 1:58.41 on the clock to complete the haul.

With her guide Fabrizio Casal, Chiara Mazzel bagged a hat-trick of golds for the Italians in the women's visually impaired downhill, super-G and Alpine combined.

Her countryman Giacomo Bertagnolli, and guide Andrea Ravelli, also triumphed in the men's visually impaired giant slalom as he beat Aigner against the odds.

Another star performer at the Championships was Sweden's Ebba Årsjö, who took gold in the women's standing super-G, giant slalom and Alpine combined events.
