Mountain biker Sam Gaze has also been added to the walk of champions, with both athletes earning two plaques having achieved the rainbow jersey twice in 2022.

Murray won track golds in the women's C5 scratch race and omnium in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines last year.

She also won an individual pursuit bronze, and at the Para-cycling Road World Championships in Baie-Comeau earned an 18.9 kilometres time trial silver and 70.2km road race bronze.

The 30-year-old commended her team-mates and support crew after her plaques were unveiled.

"I’ve been working towards this for years," Murray said.

"It’s just a really, really cool way to honour the work people have put into me as an athlete, and a great way to remember the good times.

"It’s not in my nature to make a big fuss out of things like this.

"It’s been good to challenge that.

"That’s what we really should be doing - lifting each other up like this."

Back-to-back men's cross-country Commonwealth Games champion Gaze won golds at the Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships and in the cross-country short track at the Mountain Bike World Championships in 2022.

The walk of champions honours New Zealand's world champions in cycling.
