The second Championship Tour event of the season was held at Sunset Beach on the north shore of Oahu.

Picklum is level at the top of the women's Championship Tour rankings with Hawaii's Carissa Moore, the Olympic champion representing the United States who lost in the quarter-finals to compatriot Gabriela Bryan.

Her maiden victory on the circuit came courtesy of a win in the final against Caroline Marks of the US.

The final ebbed and flowed, but Picklum prevailed with a score of 10.90 to Marks' 9.90.

Picklum beat Australia's Isabella Nichols, Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy and two-time WSL champion Tyler Wright of Australia on her way to the final.

She is thrilled to have the opportunity to wear the yellow leader jersey at the next Championship Tour event - the Rip Curl Pro Portugal in Peniche from March 8 to 16 - and believes the level of competition is high.

"The level of women's surfing is insane," Picklum said.

"You can be on the Challenger Series one year then win a CT event, so I'm definitely proud of myself for just chipping away even though there are so many setbacks.

"Moments like these make it all worth it."

Picklum and Moore both have 14,745 points for the season, followed by Wright with 13,885, Bryan on 10,830 and Marks on 10,410.

Toledo earned his 13th Championship Tour victory in the men's competition, edging past the US' Griffin Colapinto by 17.74 to 16.10 in the final.

He had earlier beaten Hawaii's Eli Hanneman and Seth Moniz and Brazilians Caio Ibelli and João Chianca.

Colapinto won his semi-final against Australia's Jack Robinson, the winner of the season opener at Banzai Pipeline.

Robinson continues to lead the rankings with 16,085, followed by Toledo with 14,475, Chianca with 12,170 and Italy's Leonardo Fioravanti with 11,120.

The top 10 men and top eight women on the WSL Championship Tour are set to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

A mid-season cut is set to take place after the fifth event at Margaret River in April, with only the top 24 men and 12 women advancing.
