Rémi Bonnet and Axelle Gachet Mollaret won their second solo gold medals at the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) World Championships in Boí Taüll with victories in the individual races.

Both races began at the Boí Taüll Station in the Spanish resort, and featured a 1,600-metre ascent and descent.

Bonnet had already triumphed in the vertical race at the World Championships, and dominated the individual competition, taking a 50-second lead after the first climb.

He finished in 1 hour 20min 20.7sec, beating closest challenger Matteo Eydallin of Italy by nearly two minutes with his time of 1:22:11.9.

Robert Antonioli, Eydallin's partner in Thursday's (March 2) team race victory, took third in 1:22:49.5.

Bonnet described it as his "best season ever".

Gachet Mollaret continued her domination she has displayed this season in the women's individual, winning by more than three minutes with her time of 1:17:05.9.

Italian pair Alba de Silvestro and Giulia Murada placed second and third with 1:20:13.6 and 1:20:55.5 respectively.

Gachet Mollaret had also won the vertical and the team races at the World Championships, and was pleased with her display.

"It was an excellent race," he said.

"I made a gap from the beginning, so it was quite easy to maintain my position for the rest of the race.

"The track and mountains were really nice.

"I’m happy that I successfully accomplished the biggest goal of the season."

The ISMF World Championships is set to conclude tomorrow with the relay races.
