Howden faced off against reigning world champion Florian Wilmsmann of Germany and France's Youri Duplessis Kergomard and Terence Tchicknavorian in the big final of the men's competition.

The 24-year-old 2016 Winter Youth Olympic gold medallist maintained the lead throughout the entire race roared on by a passionate home crowd to seal the Crystal Globe with a race to spare.

Wilmsmann took second, with Kergomard and Tchicknavorian interchanged positions throughout the race.

Kergomard finally came out on top to secure third place.

Howden now has 696 points to lead the overall rankings and cannot be caught with one final race due to take place in Craigleith tomorrow. 

Sweden's David Mobärg is in second with 554 points, with Wilmsmann third 96 behind. 

On the women's side, double Olympic bronze medallist Smith won the big final race against the Canadian trio of Hannah Schmidt, Courtney Hoffos and Marielle Thompson.

This was Smith's second victory of this season, and second in succession, following her win before home fans in Veysonnaz on Sunday (March 12). 

Hoffos claimed her first podium finish of the season, as she was overtaken by Thompson but then climbed back to finish second.

Thompson took third while Schmidt had to settle for fourth.

Sandra Näslund of Sweden is safely in first with 900 points and had already wrapped up the Crystal Globe.

Smith extended the gap between her and Thompson in second and third as she has accumulated 641 points to the Canadian's 584.
