Mustapha Berraf, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), has hailed the 100 days to go marker for the second African Beach Games at Hammamet in Tunisia.

"The African Olympic and Sports Movement can rest assured that, in one hundred days, we will together make the voice of African sport heard, and place the Olympic values of peace, love, solidarity and fair play top on the agenda," Berraf said.

"In one hundred days, African Olympism will flaunt its most beautiful and most expressive asset on the beaches of Hammamet - the union of hearts and bodies around sport.

"Let us unite to celebrate the one hundred days that separate us from the second African Beach Games, Hammamet 2023, and stand together for a united Africa."

The second African Beach Games are due to take place from June 24 to 30 next year at the main venue of the Yasmine Hammamet Resort and at the secondary venues of Rades, Lake Tunis and Nabeul.

Berraf, an International Olympic Committee member, added: "I call on the entire continent to get mobilised for this great event, which will bring together over 850 athletes for 1,300 accredited participants representing the 54 member countries of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa.

"I further call on all our athletes and their coaches who will be competing to concentrate fully on their preparation to make this beautiful competition a memorable sporting success.

"The event will feature 14 sports disciplines, four team sports, eight individual sports and two demonstration sports.

"Some of these disciplines will be qualifiers for the World Beach Games scheduled from August 5 to 12 2023 in Bali, Indonesia.

"I wish to remind African National Olympic Committees of their responsibility to assist the athletes and to offer them the most enabling conditions for them to prepare and participate in the Second Africa Beach Games.

"I would like to thank all beach sport lovers, real supporters of African sport, who will travel to Hammamet to live the unique and exciting moments.

"Their contribution will be exceptional and their presence a motivation for the athletes.

"Congratulations to the Organising Committee headed by the President of NOC Tunisia, Mehrez Boussayene, who has left no stone unturned to offer a warm and fraternal welcome to all participants and to guarantee the conditions for a smooth organisation at all levels, from transport to competitions per se.

"The cultural and artistic programme for the competition will also enhance the 2nd African Beach Games and showcase the African continent the world over.

"The enhancement of Africa’s artistic and cultural heritage and the launch of the African Olympic ballet feature prominently here."
