The WBSC has launched its new logo for the Women's Softball Asia Cup ©WBSC

The South Korean city of Incheon has been unveiled as host of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's Softball Asia Cup, set to take place from April 2 to 8.

The nine-team tournament is due to be held at the LNG Sports Town and serves as the last qualification event for the 17th WBSC Women's Softball World Cup.

Japan are favourites for the Asian title as they go into the competition ranked number two in the world but Chinese Taipei, ranked third, will provide stern competition.

China, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and India are also set to compete along with hosts South Korea. 

The top three teams in the final standings will advance to the World Cup set to take place in Ireland, Spain and Italy next July.

The continental tournament will begin in a round robin format, with the top four teams in the standings advancing to the semi-finals on April 7.

South Korea and Thailand will meet first while the Philippines and Hong Kong will face-off simultaneously on April 2 in the first fixtures of the tournament.

The bronze medal-match, which will have a World Cup berth at stake, is set to be played on April 8 at 10am local time before the final at 1pm.

In addition to the release of the schedule, Softball Asia presented the new logo for the Women's Softball Asia Cup in all its age categories.

The continental body has standardised the tournament logo for the three women's events and another one for the three men's events.
