The event in the United States saw the 2010 European champion complete the course with 10-year-old mare Cala Mandia after 40.26sec with no penalties.

"What can I say, I did it again and I have no words," said Eckermann.

"Being here on the beach, with top horse sport I am thrilled.

"After a tricky start [to the week] for all, with the weather a big thank you to the whole Global Champions team, and to Jan Tops, all conditions were really perfect in the end."

Eduardo Alvarez Aznar of Spain and The Netherlands' Maikel van der Vleuten made up the top three with respective times of 41.22 and 41.35.

The pair made up for missing out on the individual title by clinching gold in the Global Champions League leg, also on Miami Beach.

They competed together for Madrid in Motion and took the win by a 1.67 seconds margin.

"We were fighting for it, and after our result we were quiet at the beginning, so we didn't expect to get the podium position, and for sure not the top one," said Alvarez Aznar.

"It's a fantastic setting and the crowd, and everything around here it's unbelievable, it's a pleasure to jump here, and it looks unbelievable after the three, four days we have had, to have this sport with this weather and this crowd, it’s fantastic."

Alvarez Aznar and Van der Vleuten clocked in with a total time of 143.89 to pip Belgian Pieter Devos and his partner Anna Kellnerová of the Czech Republic for the Prague Lions.

Rome Gladiators' Beth Underhill of Canada and Frenchwoman Nina Mallevaey claimed the bronze medal with 147.75.

The Tour is set to move to Mexico City next with competition scheduled to take place from Thursday (April 20) to Sunday (April 23).
