International Boxing Association (IBA) President Umar Kremlev has launched a scathing attack against the newly formed World Boxing before claiming that only his organisation has the "right to govern boxing".

The Russian official said that the new body is trying to "earn" from the sport and not "develop" it, adding it is trying to "break the system" and will not "achieve success".

He called the new body as the "black sheep" of boxing family.

"They are just screaming out mottos," Kremlev said.

"They are keen on earning from boxing but not to develop it.

"These people who are trying to break the system will not achieve success.

"There's always a black sheep in our family, there are always people who go their own ways.

"Someone tried to register an international association from their garage, why should we even consider them."

World Boxing was established after the Women's Boxing World Championships in New Delhi, with the aim of securing the sport's future at the Olympic Games, and is seeking recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The body is led by an Interim Executive Board comprised of representatives from Germany, Britain, The Netherlands, the Philippines, Sweden, and the United States.

Dutch Boxing Federation President Boris van der Vorst, who leads the Common Cause Alliance, is part of the Board.

Last week, USA Boxing became the first and only National Federation to terminate its membership from IBA and is looking to join World Boxing.

The United States is the most successful Olympic boxing nation with 50 gold medals.

The National Federation said its decision to terminate the membership was due to IBA’s "failure to uphold its mission and principles of its constitution and failure to respect the Olympic Charter and Movement".

The IBA has dismissed World Boxing as a "rogue" organisation and has already filed an official complaint against individuals and entities involved in it.

Kremlev, who was present at the Men's World Boxing Championships here today, said he is not worried about the Americans as IBA has received "five applications to be considered for membership" after USA Boxing terminated its membership.

"We are going to give accreditation to best candidates," Kremlev said.

"We are the boxing association on behalf of the boxers.

"I am acting on their behalf.

"Olympics is more about the athletes.

"People watch them, not the authorities."

Meanwhile, IBA secretary general George Yerolimpos branded World Boxing as a "Mickey Mouse" organisation.

The Greek official added that Kremlev and the IBA Board is creating a revolution in boxing.

"IBA has over 200 National Federations," Yerolimpos said.

"Don’t compare us with virtual entities.

"They don’t exist.

"We are the home of boxing.

"President Kremlev and the IBA Board is creating a revolution.

"Soon, IBA will present a packet of answers to IOC."
