The Milan Cortina 2026 Organising Committee has signed deals with two event organisers that it hopes will help deliver what is being billed as the most spread out Winter Olympic Games of all time.

The Val di Fiemme Nordic Ski Committee and the Antholz-Anterselva Biathlon World Cup Committee have agreed to support Milan Cortina 2026 in staging the Games in three years’ time.

Milan Cortina 2026 organisers claim the two agreements underlined the "trust" they have in the groups as they look to benefit on their knowledge of organising major events such as World Championships and the World Cups.

It is hoped that the two organisations will support the running of annual meetings with stakeholders, the International Olympic Committee and various International Federations as well as planning for the Olympics and Paralympics.

The Südtirol Arena in Antholz-Anterselva is an annual stop in the International Biathlon Union World Cup season and is due to host the biathlon events during Milan Cortina 2026.

Val di Fiemme also has experience in staging major events and is due to host the ski jumping, Nordic combined and cross-country skiing competitions during the Games.

"The signing of the two agreements confirms and describes the importance of this path - the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation faces the challenge of organising the most widespread Games ever and it would not be possible to do so without the active involvement of the territories," Andrea Varnier, chief executive of Milan Cortina 2026, said.

"The objective is very concrete: to exploit the vast experience that local authorities have gained in the management of major sporting events."

Bruno Felicetti, head of the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme Committee, claimed the agreement with Milan Cortina 2026 represented "a fundamental step in planning the organisation of the great event".

"It allows our Organising Committee to activate the complex organizational machine and immediately involve the over 1,000 volunteers who will collaborate with us for success of the event through various stages of approach," said Felicetti.

"It is also a recognition of the many years of commitment of the Val di Fiemme Nordic Ski Committee in the realisation of international events and the crowning of a dream for the entire Val di Fiemme with all the public and private components and for Trentino."

Antholz Anterselva Biathlon World Cup Committee President Lorenz Leitgeb added: "We are particularly proud not only to be able to host the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic competitions in our valley and our structure but also to be able to contribute ourselves with our experience of more than 50 years now.

"We realise that the Olympic Games represent a unique opportunity for all of us but also an enormous challenge which - together with the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, which we thank for their trust, and the other host cities - we gladly accept."
