The 3x3 basketball qualification journey for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games begins tomorrow with the eighth edition of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 World Cup.

The event is taking place in Austria's capital city Vienna with four pools of five teams to compete in the men's and women's tournaments that are due to crown champions of Sunday (June 4).

The medallists from both competitions will progress to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Paris 2024 which then sees three men's and three women's sides seal their place at the Games.

In the men's tournament at the World Cup, five-time winners and defending champions Serbia are in a tough Pool A with European powers France and Germany, AmeriCup runners-up Brazil and Africa Cup winners Madagascar.

Two-time AmeriCup victors and 2019 World Cup winners United States are the second seed but face a challenging Pool B in Vienna's town hall square.

They will meet inaugural Olympic champions Latvia, host nation Austria, Asia Cup gold medallists Australia, and Slovenia.

They face Belgium, Poland, Puerto Rico, and Israel in Pool C while The Netherlands, Mongolia, Switzerland, Japan, and Hungary comprise Pool D.

Women's defending champions France face a titanic early meeting with The Netherlands in Pool A in what is a rematch of last year's Europe Cup final.

Spain, Austria, and Brazil then round out the first group.

Second seed Germany headline Pool B and face Asian powerhouse Japan, Poland, Africa Cup champions Egypt and Australia.

Olympic gold medallists the US will face neighbours Canada, Mongolia, Hungary, and Czech Republic in Pool C while fourth seed Lithuania, former winners China and Italy, Romania, and Israel.

The World Cup is due to be broadcast on Eurovision Sport, the sports arm of the European Broadcasting Union.

It is the first competition in a new deal which will see the channel show major FIBA 3x3 events in 2023 and 2024.

The Europe Cup, Women's Series Final, World Tour Final are all included for this year while the continental event is also due to be broadcast in 2024 as well as the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
