altMay 20 - Adidas have extended their sponsorship of UK Athletics beyond London 2012, today unveiling new Great Britain & Northern Ireland team kit to be used at this year's World Championships in Berlin.

The German sportswear company, who are also a Tier One sponsor of London, have been the official kit supplier to UK Athletics since 2005.

This latest deal extends the partnership until 2013.

Besides sponsoring London 2012, adidas is also a long-time backer of the British Olympic Association and last November signed an 11-year sponsorship agreement with the International Association of Athletics Federations.

The new patriotic kit, which was revealed today and was modelled by Olympic triple jump silver medallist Philips Idowu (pictured), is a bespoke design specifically for the British team.

It will be worn for the first time at the European Team Championships in Leira, Portugal on June 20-21.

The new deal will also see adidas providing more support to the annual UK Athletics Major Events Series, specifically the Aviva London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace and the Aviva Grand Prix at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena.

For the first time adidas have become an official partner of the Aviva London Grand Prix, which will take place over two days on July 24-25.
