do-you-know

insidethegames.biz is running a Live Blog from the 2018 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest?

Our reporter James Diamond will be at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna to bring you all the news, as-it-happens, starting with the Opening Ceremony on Sunday at 4.45pm local time.

The Olympic disciplines of Freestyle and Greco-Roman will be contested at event.

Over 700 wrestlers from 114 Member Federations in more than 100 participating countries will descend upon the stadium which was opened in 2003 and named in 2004 after the famous Hungarian boxer, László Papp, who won gold medals in the 1948, 1952 and 1956 Olympics.

With only 3 days to go until the Live Blog starts, excitement is building. Competition runs for 8 days and the Live Blog will run every day until October 28th.

Wrestling is one of Hungary’s most successful sports with a proud history of Olympic wrestlers and World Champions, which is one of the reasons why this is the 4th time of hosting the World Championships since 2005, when both genders began competing at the same championships.

Discover the journey of wrestling that dates back to 3000BC.

Meet Champlion, chosen as the World Championships Mascot by the public, receiving over 3,000 votes.

Check out the wrestling section for all the latest news.

Get involved on Twitter and Facebook with #BudaWrestle2018, plus you can share individual updates or make comments on the Live Blog itself.

Our Live Blog is updated constantly so you don’t miss a thing.
