Farah uses Facebook to claim he has never taken banned drugs

Mo Farah, whose coach Alberto Salazar was alleged to have engaged in past doping violations involving other athletes in his group by a BBC Panorama programme aired earlier this month, has posted a statement on Facebook insisting he has never taken performance-enhancing drugs, and adding that the last weeks have been “the toughest of my life".

European Athletics’ new President Svein Arne Hansen has welcomed the Council’s approval of his plan to restructure the organisation’s Commissions – a key part of his election campaign – at the conclusion of its meeting in Oslo, where Hansen, meet director of the Bislett Games for 24 years, has also played a key part in the celebrations of the meeting’s  50th Anniversary.

On a special night that was supposed to belong to established names such as Mutaz Essa Barshim, Bohdan Bondarenko and Genzebe Dibaba, the 50th Anniversary running of the Bislett Games - watched by illustrious past performers such as John Walker, Ingrid Kristiansen, Roger Moens, Henry Rono, Sebastian Coe and Steve Cram - will be remembered instead for three unlikely victors in Britain’s 1500 metres runner Laura Muir, China’s high jumper Guowei Zhang and Israeli javelin thrower Marharyata Dorozhon.
