JULY 13 - BRITAIN'S Andrea Whitcombe (pictured) stepped onto her first triathlon World Cup podium since 2005 to take victory in the Hungarian town of Tiszaujvaros.

The Briton exited the swim in the chasing group, however bridged up to the leaders early on the bike to put herself in contention for the final run as the pack of five pulled away to establish a four minute advantage by second transition.

Whitcombe stormed away after the first of the four run laps to lead out on her own and was able to cross the finish line comfortably in first place to take her third career world cup win ahead of Australia ’s Felicity Abram. Mariana Ohata from Brazil was third.

In the men’s race Britain ’s Olly Freeman finished sixth, just a week after taking third position at the BG Triathlon World Cup in Hamburg.

The race was won by Spain ’s reigning world champion, Javier Gomez.
