Team GB_to_take_part_in_Worcester_tournament_June_2012June 9 - Great Britain's men's wheelchair basketball team will finalise their preparations for London 2012, where they will be major gold medal contenders, with a one-off round-robin tournament at the University of Worcester that will also feature Canada and Spain.


The tournament, which is titled the Standard Life Continental Clash, will take place from June 10 until 12 with Canada and Spain likely to be two of Britain's biggest rivals at the Paralympic Games.

Canada's men's wheelchair basketball team have a phenomenal record at the Paralympics as they are the reigning Paralympic silver medallists from Beijing 2008 having won gold at both Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004.

Meanwhile Spain is widely considered one of the dark horses for a medal at the London 2012 Paralympics as they have been improving every year.

The action will get underway on June 10 with Canada and Spain meeting in the opening match before Spain then meets Britain.

The hosts will then take on Canada in the final match of the day.

On June 11, Canada will meet the Britain B team in the first match before Canada then take on Spain with Britain meeting Spain in the final match.

On June 12, the final day, Spain will take on Britain before they then take on the Britain B team later in the day.

The final match of the tournament will see Britain against Canada and following the results from the tournament, a winner of the Standard Life Continental Clash will be crowned.
