Foksi the Fox has been named as the mascot of the Maribor 2023 Summer European Youth Olympic Festival.

He may be known to some as he is already the mascot of the Slovenian Olympic Committee.

During the EYOF, he will be stationed in Maribor to cheer on the young athletes.

Foksi is described as being a "lively, crafty and shrewd" fox.

He is said to have an "indomitable spirit and has been passionate about sports ever since he was a baby cub".

Other traits are that he is playful - meaning innocent pranks and jokes may be played when he is in the company of fans.

His most striking feature is said to be his restless nature - for which he has found the perfect outlet in sport.

He trains from dusk until dawn and has tried many different sporting disciplines.

Foksi has often been seen at sporting events across Slovenia, especially those involving young people.
