Emily YatesJanuary 4 - A London 2012 Games Maker is hoping to write and publish a guide book for disabled travellers visiting Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics.

Emily Yates was one of two volunteers mentioned by London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe during his speech at the Closing Ceremony of the Paralympics and she was so inspired that it gave her the idea of the guide.

Coe had used Yates, a 20-year-old from Yorkshire who has cerebral palsy and has been in a wheelchair since the age of nine, as one of two examples as "Games Makers [who] stand among the heroes of London 2012".

He said: "I met Emily - a Games Maker at the Paralympic Games.

"She talked of what the Games meant for her and what participating in wheelchair basketball means to her.

"'It has lifted the clouds of limitation.'"

Yates was responsible for being part of the warm-up team for wheelchair fencing in ExCeL at the Paralympics.

She hopes to play a part at Rio 2016 by producing a guide book for people going to Brazil.

"Ideally I'd like it to be a book that would include reviews on hotels, restaurants and public transport," she said.
