Crumpler have become a sponsor of Australia's team for Rio 2016 ©CrumplerIconic bag brand Crumpler has been announced as the Official Supplier of luggage to the Australia's team for next year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Crumpler was founded in Melbourne in 1995 by Dave Roper and Will Miller, former bike couriers, and Stuart Crumpler, who as well as being a cycle messenger was also a sculptor and furniture maker.

The design process for the luggage to be used for Rio 2016 is currently underway with customised versions of Crumpler's award winning Vis-à-Vis trunk due to be unveiled with the official uniform next year.

The announcement comes as Crumpler is preparing to kick off their 20th anniversary celebrations.

"Crumpler is thrilled to be supporting the whole Australian Olympic team on their journey to compete in Rio and we can't think of a better way to celebrate our 20th birthday than designing a bag worthy of our Olympians," said Peter Stockdale, the chief executive of Crumpler.

Stockdale claimed the Crumpler and Australian Olympic team partnership is a natural one.

"The originality in our product design is one of necessity, where we find a need, we design a solution - it's almost that simple," he said.

"We don't take chances with quality.

"All our zips, toggles, textiles, threads, clips, wheels, webbing and raw materials are trialled meticulously, then pieced together by expert hands.

"The result is a bag that does what it's meant to, and holds true to the sum of its parts.

"Our Olympians have worked their whole lives on the small details to ensure they can deliver on the day.

"I'm pretty sure our Olympians will be enjoying their Rio Olympics Vis-a Vis trunk long after their athletic retirement."
