Chef de Mission Dermot Henihan has briefed Team Ireland officials on Baku 2015 ©OCIA seminar for managers, coaches and performance support staff attending the first-ever European Games in Baku has been held by the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI). 


The team's Chef de Mission Dermot Henihan hosted the event at the OCI's headquarters in Howath. 

He briefed officials on a number of important issues.

These included  medical issues and Games support services, information on the Baku anti-doping athlete whereabouts system, training, recovery and clothing collection, final flight schedules, Games communication strategy and future Team Ireland announcements.

Among those who supported Henihan were the OCI's chief executive Stephen Martin and medical officer Rod McLoughlin. 

Ireland hopes to send a team of up to 65 athletes to a Games that OCI President Patrick Hickey has been the mastermind in launching. 

Boxer Katie Taylor, the London 2012 gold medallist, is expected to lead Ireland's team.  

Ireland hope to compete in archery, badminton, basketball, canoeing, cycling, fencing, gymnastics, judo, karate, sambo, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, triathlon and wrestling
