Pyeongchang 2018 has today launched a public survey to find the artistic design which will be used to brand facilities and other promotional items during the Winter Olympics and Paralympics

A total of 14 artists, recommended by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, have been shortlisted, with their work on display at a special exhibition.

They each submitted a design in order to reflect the  vision and slogan of Pyeongchang 2018 and it is hoped their work will help promote winter sports in the nation.

Their efforts are being showcased at a Look Motifs Exhibition and Survey in South Korean capital Seoul, which opened today and is due to close on November 17.

An online and offline poll has been created to allow the public to select their chosen design, with the eventual winner being decided once a Selection Committee has conducted an evaluation process.

To mark the launch of the survey, a special Opening Ceremony was held and was attended by the 14 designers along with newly-appointed Pyeongchang 2018 secretary general Hyungkoo Yeo and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Kim Jongdeok.

“The Look Motifs Exhibition is a significant milestone to showcase the convergence of culture and sports,” Kim said.

“With the selection of the Games Look Design, we expect that the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Pyeongchang 2018 will promote Korea as a cultural power to the world.”

The final chosen design, which will be picked at the Look Motifs Exhibition, will go on to be used as the official design for Pyeongchang 2018, the first time South Korea has hosted the Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

Those who wish to vote in the online poll can do so by clicking here, or on the Pyeongchang 2018 official Facebook page here.

Around 6,000 athletes are expected to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games due to take place from February 9 to 25, while roughly 690 athletes are due to participate in the Paralympic Games, scheduled to be held from March 9 to 18.
