International Boxing Association (AIBA) President C K  Wu has been appointed an honorary member of the Federation International Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) in Milan.

Wu was honoured at a special awards ceremony at the Auditorium Testori of Palazzo Lombardia organised during the 33rd edition of the Milano International FICTS Festival.

FICTS, who promote the values of sport through images in their 113 member countries, invited the AIBA President to the event as their guest of honour for the event which was attended by several Olympians, including London 2012 gold medal winning fencer Giorgio Avol.

Wu, a member of the International Olympic Committee's ruling Executive Board, welcomed the honour and outlined his aim to support the organisation.

“I am humbled and grateful to become the Honorary Member of the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs and I truly believe that by promoting sport through cinema and television we enhance the key Olympic values of Excellency, Respect and Friendship which are indeed consubstantial with the values of boxing,” said Wu.

“As an honorary member I am committed to support the mission of FICTS and all of its future projects”.

The Taiwanese was presented with the “FICTS Golden Card” by Claudia Bugno, the former general coordinator of the Rome 2024 Olympic Bid, to confirm the 69-year-old as an honorary member.

Wu and Bugno were also joined by FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani, who also serves as a member of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Heritage.
