Extensive round-robin play involving 42 countries is currently ongoing in six groups with the top 16 come the end going into the knock-out phase.

"Our game is still not perfect, we still have some tiny mistakes, so we would like to correct them for the upcoming games, firstly, against Switzerland tomorrow," said Palancsa.

"It wasn't a bad game, but there's surely room for improvement."

Canada and China both improved their records to four wins out of four with the former scoring five in the first end against Serbia as they eased to a 14-0 success.

The Canadians had earlier beaten Italy, 9-5.

China scored five points in the second end which helped them to a 10-5 win against France.

Newcomers Luxembourg won their second match in a row, this time beating Kazakhstan 11-4, with Ireland enjoying a 9-4 win over Australia.

Qatar's debut on the international curling stage continued in difficult fashion as they were thrashed 17-0 by the Czech Republic.

There was a win for Germany, however, who beat Slovenia 7-4 while Sweden edged past South Korea 9-8.
