Japan's Naoki Nakamura and partner Haruka Isawa claimed the mixed team ski jumping gold medal at the 2017 Winter Universiade today.

They completed the competition with an overall score of 445.1 points which was enough to see them finish top of the standings here at the Sunkar International Ski Jumping Complex.

Nakamura and Isawa earned a tally of 212.4 in the first round.

They then cemented their lead by adding a further 232.7 in the final to steer them towards the gold medal.

Iwasa and Nakamura's victory gave them their second gold medals in Almaty after they won the men’s and women’s normal hill individual competitions on Wednesday (February 1).

Koga and Kobayashi were second after the first round but dropped into fourth in the final, taking third with a score of 430.6 as a result.

Russia’s Stefaniya Nadymova and Mikhail Maksimochkin got the best score of the second round with a score of 235.0, but a poor first jump where they could only manage 193.4 meant they missed out on the bronze medal with a combined total of 428.4.
