Stuart McConnell has replaced Bill Harrigan as chairman of the International Tag Federation (ITF).

The South African took over from his Australian colleague after the latter resigned following five years in charge during a conference in Cape Town last month.

During the conference, amendments were also made to the organisation’s constitution and ideas were discussed for the future growth in the sport of tag rugby.

This included considering different funding options to help the ITF run the sport.

They also looked at how plans are going for the 2018 Tag World Cup being held in New Zealand.

Representatives from five executive member nations, South Africa, Australia, Great Britain, New Zealand and Ireland, were present at the conference.

Tag Rugby Ireland’s Simon Bewley said the event went well.

"The host nation South Africa were amazing hosts and it was fantastic to pass on knowledge to the local staff working for tag in South Africa," he said.
