Defending champion Nour El Sherbini will begin her defence of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Women's World Championship against a qualifier after the first round draw was confirmed.

The Egyptian will be the top seed for her home tournament which will take place in El Gouna between April 7 and 14.

She will be hoping to reclaim the title she won in April in Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, when she came from two games down to beat England's Laura Massaro in the final.

That success made her the youngest-ever world champion but she will face tough competition at the Red Sea resort.

France's Camille Serme, the winner of both the US Open and Tournament of Champions, is seeded second in the bottom half of the draw and will begin against Egypt's Salma Hany Ibrahim.

Egypt's Raneem El Welily, the world number three will meet England's Jenny Duncalf while the world number four Nouran Gohar, another Egyptian, will meet her compatriot Nadine Shahin.

Malaysia's Nicol David, the sixth seed, will bid for a ninth world title and will begin against Dipika Pallikal Karthik of India.

Last year's runner-up Massaro, the fifth seed who won the world title in 2013, will meet Egypt's Mariam Metwally.

"We are very excited to be bringing the biggest tournament on the women's calendar to El Gouna and look forward to welcoming the best players in the world here next month for what promises to be highly competitive event," said tournament director, Amr Mansi.

The tournament, despite being played this year, will officially be the 2016 edition of the flagship event.

Action was initially due to take place in December, but was postponed due to "complications in the negotiations process".

It means this year will witness two Women's World Championships, with the 2017 edition due to take place in English city Manchester between December 9 and 17, alongside the men's event.
