Boels–Dolmans will seek to defend their team time trial at the Crescent Vargarda in the first of two International Cycling Union (UCI) Women's WorldTour races in Sweden.

The Dutch team emerged victorious at the 2016 edition of the event, holding off competition from Cervélo–Bigla Pro Cycling and Rabo–Liv.

They will be hopeful of back-to-back successes at in Vargarda, with the women's team time trial event set to be held for the 10th time.

Boels–Dolmans’ line-up for the event could include Dutch stars Anna van der Breggen and Chantal Black, as well as Britain’s Lizzie Deignan and Denmark’s Amalie Dideriksen.

A total of 21 teams are expected to contest the event, while a further three national squads will compete.

Along with hosts Sweden, Australia and Norway will take to the start.

It is expected that around 80 million households could watch the event across Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada and the United States.

"It is amazing that we have had an opportunity to reach so many viewers," said Hans Jönsson, chairman of Vargarda CK.

"This is yet another proof that Vårgårda succeeded in continuing to develop women's cycling internationally.

"In addition, it is a unique opportunity to showcase the landscape and the countryside for both Swedish and foreign viewers."

Following the 42.5 kilometres team trial, riders will enjoy a one-day break from competition.

A separate road race, also a UCI Women's WorldTour event, will then take place on Sunday (August 13).
