Hewett avenged his defeat to Reid in the gold medal match at last year's Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with a crushing 6-3, 6-2 win at the Loughborough Tennis Centre.

The 19-year-old found himself 3-0 down to the Paralympic gold medallist in the first set before he clinched eight games in a row to win the opener and establish a healthy advantage in the second.

Reid was not able to deal with the momentum from the other side of the court and fell some way short of his high expectations.

"It was probably one of the best matches I have played," Hewett said.

"Gordon is a great competitor and I am really proud of this win."

The women's singles title was won by Diede de Groot of The Netherlands as she swept aside world number one Yui Kamiji 7-5, 6-4.

World number one David Wagner had earlier ended British player Andy Lapthorne's hopes of securing the quad singles crown as the American ruthlessly dispatched his opponent in straight sets.

Wanger, who came into the final as the overwhelming favourite, clinched the title with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 success to disappoint the home crowd.
