Denmark’s Jakob Fuglsang won the penultimate stage of the Tour of Romandie on a day when Primož Roglič retained the leader's yellow jersey.

Fuglsang, riding for Astana, broke clear of a five-man leading group for a solo victory by 48 seconds in this International Cycling Union (UCI) WorldTour event.

Lotto NL rider Roglič beat closest challenger, Colombia's Egan Bernal, riding for Team Sky, at the line to finish second and claim more bonus points at the end of the 149.2 kilometres circular route starting and ending at the 2026 Winter Olympic bid resort of Sion.

Roglič, a former ski jumper, is looking for his first overall win in the race.

The Slovenian leads Bernal by eight seconds and Australia’s defending champion Richie Porte by 35 going into the final stage around Geneva tomorrow.

Fuglsang finished on the day in 4 hours 18min 48sec, with Roglič and Bernal being given the same time behind him.

Portugal's Rui Costa of UAE Team Emirates and Porte, of  BMC Racing Team, were 50 seconds behind.

Germany’s Charlotte Becker, already assured of overall victory in the Tour of Chongming Island after breaking clear on stage two, put the stamp on it today.

In the final 126.5km stage of this UCI Women’s World Tour, which began and ended in Xincheng, the Hitec Products rider crossed the line as part of the bunch to win with an overall time of 8:45.55.

She finished five seconds clear of Australia’s Shannon Malseed, of Team TIBCO-SVB, with third place going to Russia’s Anastasia Iakovenko of BTC City Ljublana, a further three seconds back.,

Kirsten Wild of The Netherlands claimed the third stage win with a time of 3: 03:50 for Wiggle High5, with Belgium’s Jolien d’Hoore for MItchelton-Scott taking second place and third going to Italy’s Giorgia Bronzini, of Cylance Pro Cycling.
