Belgium's Nicola Philippaerts earned his second victory of the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) in Chantilly.

Riding on H&M Chilli Willi, Philippaerts was one of 10 riders to produce a clean round at the competition.

He would repeat the feat during the jump-off to move into contention for the victory.

A time of 37.26sec proved enough to secure the win and a second success on the tour having triumphed in Cascais in Estoril last month.

Philippaerts was narrowly faster than Germany's Daniel Deusser, who finished as the runner-up by ending in 37.30.

The podium was rounded off by Italy’s Alberto Zorzi, the only other rider to go clear in the jump off.

He achieved a time of 38.63.

Both Belgium’s Jerome Guery and Ben Maher would have done enough to secure a podium finish, had they not picked up penalties.

The duo managed times of 35.66 and 35.72 respectively, but four second penalties saw them finish fourth and fifth.

The International Equestrian Federation Jumping Nations Cup is due to resume tomorrow with an event in Sweden.

Competition will take place in the town of Falsterbo.
