Around 100 participants in Ukraine have featured in an International Sambo Federation (FIAS) seminar for referees and coaches.

The three-day event, which took place in a castle-hotel in Vyshgorod near Kyiv, was followed by an examination in the rules of sambo.

A lecture on beach sambo was among other elements given.

"For the second time, the 'Vyshegrad' castle-hotel acted as a venue for the seminar, wherein, like a year ago, we have created all the necessary conditions for the fruitful work," said National Sambo Federation of Ukraine President Vadim Rogach.

"We laid out a mat for practice sessions, prepared a screen for analysing various situations on video, and demonstrated how to operate the electronic scoreboard software on a plasma display.

"As we had promised a year ago, the seminar encompassed not only the refereeing but also the coaching nuances."

Ukrainian national coach Mikhail Rudenko also spoke about changes in coaching methods including the growing importance of team doctors and psychologists.
