Top seeds David Horn of the United States and Paola Longoria of Mexico have reached the semi-finals of the International Racquetball Federation World Championships in San José.

Longoria won her quarter-final against Colombia’s Adriana Riveros 15-7, 15-1 and now meets Argentina's former world number two Maria Jose Vargas, who earned a 15-2, 15-7 win over Bolivia’s Yasmine Sabja.

On the other side of the draw Vargas’s compatriot Natalia Mendez, a 15-1, 15-13 winner over Rhonda Rajsich of the United States, will play Guatemala’s Ana Gabriel Martinez, who won her quarter-final against Mexico’s Samantha Salas 15-4, 15-12.

Horn will meet Mexico’s Roderigo Montoya after defeating Colombia’s Mario Mercado 15-12, 15-6.

Montoya earned his place with a 13-15, 15-7, 15-6 win over Bolivia’s Conrado Moscoso.

The second men’s semi-final will see Charlie Pratt of the United States, who beat Canada’s Samuel Murray 15-2, 15-12, meet surprise package Sebastian Franco.

The Colombian won his quarter-final against Mexico’s second seed, Daniel De La Rosa, 15-8, 5-15, 11-10.

The tournament is due to continue tomorrow.
