Slovakia's Helena Kašická returned to competition after two years and won the women's freestyle class 2 at the World Para Dance Sport World Cup in front of a home crowd in Kosice. 

Kašická had previously won at the competition with partner Peter Vidasic, securing gold in combi freestlye, Latin and standard events. 

The former world and European champion's last World Para Dance Sport performance had been at the same venue in Kosice two years ago and she returned to get gold in the women's freestyle class 2.

Austrian Sanja Vukasinovic came second in the event, with Belgium's Sofie Cox third.

Vukasinovic went on to win the women's singles 2, however, with Slovakia's Mária Gazdíková coming in second and Cox again in third. 

The Slovakian crowd had more to cheer about when Mária Dutková and Martin Šolc won the combi standard and Gazdíková and Maroš Olejar got silver medals.

Finland’s Tuuli Harji and Timo Pyykkonen came third.

Kazakhstan pipped Slovakian couples to gold in the combi freestyle 1 and 2 however. 

Aidana Beglenova and Ardak Otorbayev came in first, beating Dutková and Šolc in second and Gazdíková and Olejar in third.

Belgium’s Roswitha Van Dorpe won the women’s singles and freestyle class 1, with Slovenia’s Nastija Fijolič and Finland’s Pirjo Pappila coming second and third in both events.

Slovenia were triumphant in the men's singles freestlye 1 and 2, with Amir Alibabić winning the gold medal.

Ertöz Osman and Abdul Ünal of Turkey won silver and bronze medals respectively.

Austria’s Robert Pleininger won the men’s singles 1 and 2, with Otorbayev in second and Ünal in third. 

The next event is due to be the Lomianki 2018 World Para Dance Sport European Championships from November 9 to 11 in Poland.
