V-ZUG, the Swiss household appliance manufacturer, has been announced as an official sponsor of this year's International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship.

The agreement was brokered by Infront, the IIHF's exclusive media and marketing partner.

The sponsorship includes V-ZUG's presence on rink-boards, press conference backdrops and a wide range of advertising assets at the two venues to be used for the event in Switzerland from May 8 to 24 – the Hallenstadion in Zürich and the Vaudoise Aréna in Lausanne.

The manufacturer will also have the right to use the official logo and mascot for promotional purposes, as well as organising fan activities at both venues.

"This agreement with V-ZUG means we can add another big Swiss brand to the sponsorship portfolio of this year's IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship," Christoph Mauer, Infront's senior director for winter sports, said.

"The brand stands for quality and precision, aligning perfectly with the tournament's values as well as what we want to achieve at the event."

"Ice hockey represents the same values that are important to us as a company as well: discipline, commitment, passion for detail and precision."
