British Taekwondo is supporting the National Health Service (NHS) by donating a portion revenue from sales of a limited-edition hoodie to the institution.

The jumper, emblazoned with a rainbow and the words "stay strong", is on sale, with £5 ($6.25/€5.74) from every purchase going to a fundraiser set up by an army veteran in support of the NHS.

Proceeds are going towards the cause of Captain Tom Moore, a 99-year-old who pledged to raise £1,000 ($1,250/€1,150) by walking 100 laps of his garden before turning 100 at the end of the month.

However, he has raised more than £25.6 million ($32.1 million/€29.5 million) to date and finished his final laps on April 16.

The limited-edition hoodie is on sale for adults and children.

The rainbow depicted on the jumper has become a sign of hope, drawn by children across the United Kingdom and placed in the windows of their houses.

"We are delighted to release a limited-edition BT hoodie that has been designed to support our fantastic NHS staff", British Taekwondo said.

One of the hardest-hit nations by COVID-19, the UK has had at least 114,000 coronavirus cases, resulting in the deaths of more than 15,000 people.

The Government has come under fire after for not doing enough to protect NHS workers and former London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton has been appointed to boost the production of personal protection equipment amid a shortfall.
