Players from the host nation enjoyed a clean sweep of wins on the second day of quarter-final matches at the PSA Egyptian Open in Cairo.

The most dramatic match of the night was the final encounter at the New Giza Sporting Club as third seed Tarek Momen was forced to twice come from behind before beating fifth seed Diego Elias of Peru 7-11 11-7 4-11 11-6 11-7 in a match that lasted 88 minutes.

The remaining men's quarter-final saw Marwan ElShorbagy defeat compatriot Mazen Hesham 11-9 5-11 11-7 11-3.

In the women's competition, fourth seed Nour El Tayeb beat Egyptian compatriot Salma Hany 11-6 11-5 11-5.

Fellow host nation player Nour El Sherbini, the second seed, enjoyed an equally comfortable evening, triumphing 11-5 11-9 11-9 against Joshna Chinappa of India.

The semi-finals in both the men's and women's competitions will take place on the Glass Court tomorrow evening, with all players representing Egypt.

In the women's matches top seed Nouran Gohar faces Hania El Hammamy while El Tayeb takes on El Sherbini.

In the men's event, top seed Ali Farag faces unseeded Mostafa Asal, who celebrated his surprise five game quarter-final success against Paul Coll yesterday by ripping off his shirt and throwing it into the crowd, while Momen faces ElShorbagy.

The finals are then scheduled to take place on Saturday (October 17).
