France produced a dramatic comeback to defeat Belgium in the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League, setting up a final with Spain after their win against European champions Italy.

The world champions, who underwhelmed at this summer's Euros, found themselves 2-0 down at half-time after Yannick Carrasco scored in the 37th minute to hand Belgium a deserved lead.

Romelu Lukaku quickly added a second to seemingly put the game beyond the French, Kevin de Bruyne providing assists for both goals.

However, France valiantly fought back in the second half.

Karim Benzema scored with a low drilled finish, before Kylian Mbappé tucked away a penalty to draw level.

Finally, after Lukaku had a goal ruled out for offside by the Video Assistant Referee, French full-back Theo Hernández teed himself up just inside the penalty area and unleashed a left-footed rocket into the far corner to secure a dramatic victory.

Yesterday, Spain dismantled Italy and will meet France in the final.

Italy had not lost in 37 games prior to their contest against their European rivals, including a win against Spain on their way to their European Championships victory this summer, only for Leonardo Bonucci to see yellow twice and find himself sent off three minutes before half-time.

Spain were already 1-0 up at the time, but within five minutes, Ferran Torres scored his and his team's second of the evening to all but secure victory.

Lorenzo Pellegrini scored in the 83rd minute for Italy to make for a nervy ending, but Spain held on for the win.

The UEFA Nations League Final is due to be played on Sunday (October 10) at the San Siro in Milan in Italy.
