A programme has been launched to find young photojournalists to cover the Yekaterinburg 2023 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games.

The programme is being run by the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, with ten places available to students at the university studying or with an interest in photography.

To be selected for the programme students must provide a portfolio of their work alongside a motivational letter for the Ural Federal University Commission to consider.

Candidates selected for places on the programme will be mentored by Andrey Golovanov, a sports photographer who has covered 14 Olympic Games.

Applications for the programme are open until March 3.

Golovanov will hold lectures for those on the programme in the build-up to the Yekaterinburg 2023 FISU Games, scheduled to take place from August 8 to 19, while participants will be given professional photographic equipment.

Five of the programme’s participants will then be selected to receive accreditation as official photographers for the Yekaterinburg 2023 FISU Games.

Yekaterinburg 2023 is set to welcome more than 10,000 athletes, and organisers expect to host 750,000 spectators during the Games.
