Edgars Točs and Kristians Fokerots and Ardis Bedritis and Arturs Rinkevics will also represent Latvia when they line-up in the qualification round.

Tina Graudin and Anastasija Kravcenoka will lead Latvia’s challenge in the women’s event, while Marta Ozolina and Luize Skrastina and Varvara Brailko and Deniela Konstantinova will also compete for the home nation.

Reigning Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway triumphed in the last Elite 16 event in Ostrava in the Czech Republic and will be determined to repeat that success.

It was their second medal of the Beach Pro Tour after they earned bronze at the inaugural Elite 16 event in Rosarito in Mexico where Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan of Qatar triumphed.

Germany's Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillman defeated Brazilians Talita Antunes and Rebecca Silva to take the women's title in Ostrava.

While the Germans are not competing in Jūrmala, Antunes and Silva will seek to go one better in the Latvian city.

Raisa Schoon and Katja Stam of The Netherlands will be aiming to secure their second Elite 16 crown after winning in Rosarito.

The Dutch duo overcame Brazilians Barbara Seixas and Carol Salgado before seeing off Graudin and Kravcenoka in straight sets in the final to become the first winners of an Elite 16 event.

Competition in Jūrmala is set to start tomorrow with the preliminary phase and is due to conclude on Sunday (June 5).
