The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has launched "Bharat in Paris" a campaign to promote India’s participation at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics in a sustainable way.

“We have drawn our inspiration from our Prime Minister Narendra Modi who recently donned jacket made of recycled material, and his commitment for a Green India," IOA acting chief executive Kalyan Chaubey said.

"The 'Bharat In Paris' campaign will feature participants' jerseys crafted and formulated from a blend of  hemp, bamboo and beechwood."

The initiative is to be launched with a mass participation seven kilometre race to be held on Olympic Day on Friday (June 23) starting at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

Participants are encouraged to register on social media.

Organisers have promised "an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for all".

"Lace up your running shoes, rally your friends and family and be part of this Olympic Movement," a message on social media read.

The IOA is set to organise some 20 marathons and five "cyclothons" in partnership with 12 state Governments and gaming company UNIV Sportatech.

"Bharat in Paris" is expected to be the first of many Olympic related activities organised to build excitement towards the Olympics and Paralympics.
