Latvia edged Peru 7-6 in a thrilling Pool F encounter in San Diego.

The South Americans were leading 6-5 with two minutes to go but Latvia levelled the scores and Kaspars Rudzinskis struck with six seconds on the clock to seal a sensational win.

An overtime strike from Andrew Gresham helped Wales restrict Denmark 7-6 while Scotland's winning goal came with 10 seconds remaining as they beat Mexico 9-8 in Pool E.

In Pool D, Jamaica defeated Germany 5-3 in what was a defensive game.

Isaac Newland was the star of the show, scoring four and assisting the other for the Jamaicans.  

New Zealand scored twice the number of goals as their opponent Switzerland in another Pool D fixture.

A hat-trick from Andrew Clayton helped New Zealand win 12-6.

Their oceanic rivals Australia defeated a strong England team 8-4 to begin their campaign in pool A.

Another hat-trick hero in Isaac Cahill helped the Aussies while Sean Aaron blocked a flurry of shots between the posts.

John Piatelli with four goals and Christian Cuccinello with three assists helped Italy cruise past Hong Kong 13-5 in Pool E.

In Pool F, playmaker Conor Foley helped Ireland to a huge 12-6 win over the Netherlands.

Japan was no match for France in Pool B, winning 15-2 as Shinya Tateishi banged in five goals and assisted four times.

His compatriot Hiroki Kanaya got a double hat-trick and also assisted twice in his team’s dominant win.

Puerto Rico won 14-6 against the Czech Republic while Pool C saw Israel get the better of Sweden 10-3.   

Nathaniel Solomon, Matthew Balter and Robert Schain all scored a brace each in what was a one-sided affair.
