The US beat Canada 9-8 to win the title in Netanya, Israel, in 2018 and will be hoping for an 11th title and become the first back-to-back world champion since 2002.

Eight players found the back of the net for USA in the semi-final against Australia with Michael Sowers and Ryan Conrad bagging two goals and an assist each.

"Playing for a gold medal, that’s what you dream of as a little kid," said defender Jack Rowlett.

"These are my best friends now, I love all these guys and I want to win for them.

"Playing for each other is how we’ll have the most success."

Canada, set to play its sixth consecutive championship game had a balanced outing against the Haudenosaunee in terms of attack.

Dhane Smith notched three goals and an assist while Dyson Williams contributed to three more goals.

Goalkeeper Dillon Ward also stood out with 11 saves against the 18 shots he faced.

"You go through this ten-day tournament and all you try to do is build your team and chemistry," said Dyson Williams.

"Game one was a tough result for us but ever since then we’ve been working towards getting back to the gold medal game.

"Now that we’ve accomplished that we’re looking forward to our one game left."
