Vanda Kiszli starred for Hungary at the European Canoe Association (ECA) Canoe Marathon European Championships as she finished the event with two gold medals to her name.

The 29-year-old secured a fourth consecutive victory in the K1 classic distance in Slavonski Brod as she completed the 26.2-kilometre course in 2hour 4min 00.31 sec.

She finished with a substantial advantage over the rest of the pack before compatriot Zsofia Voros clocked in 3:11.49 later.

Eva Barrios of Spain then made up the top three with a time of 2:07:33.46.

"It was long and tiring race because of the heat, but I drank a lot and just tried to focus on myself," Kiszli said.

"It was good.

"I thought I will paddle with other girls and break away at the second to last portage.

"But after the first portage, the opportunity was there and I took it.

"The Canoe Marathon World Championships is on the programme in late August.

"It's going to be much harder than here.

"We will see.

"First, I need to qualify."

Kiszli also triumphed in the women's K1 short race, beating Serbian Kristina Bedeč in second and Barrios who sealed bronze again.

Ukraine's Liudmyla Babak won her fifth continental title in the women's C1 marathon which is comprised of three long laps and two portages for a total distance of 15.4km.

Her time of 1:22:49.60 was enough to beat Paulina Grselkiewicz of Poland and France's Yseline Huet in second and third, respectively.

"The race was very good," said Babak, who also won the women's C1 short race.

"But today and during the whole competition it is very hot, however, for me it was not that hard.

"I am very happy, but I expected this, it is normal for me."

In the men's C1 marathon it was reigning world champion Manuel Garrido of Spain who was victorious as he went one better than his silver medal from last year's event.

Mateusz Borgiel led a Polish one-two in the C1 men's short race with countryman Mateusz Zuchora and Spain's Diego Romero joining him on the podium.

Eivin Vold of Norway prevailed in the men's K1 short race but could only manage third in the marathon as Denmark's Mads Pedersen finished first.
