British Judo has hired two new Board members in the form of Delia Wright and Rebecca McCreath who will serve as independent non-executives.

Wright joins the governing body with a background in direct-to-consumer and business-to-business marketing together with experience in devising digital marketing strategies and commercial propositions.

"I am excited to be able to support the BJA as it continues to grow and appeal to new audiences," she said.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to make a real difference in a sport that is growing in popularity."

Joining Wright is McCreath who has a background in events, marketing, and communications.

Throughout her career, she has helped to deliver events for sectors including sport, charity, and the private sector.

"I am incredibly passionate about sport and am absolutely delighted to be able to bring my experience to British Judo at this important time," McCreath said.

The acquisitions come two months after Gerry Gualtieri was appointed as chair of the Board.

"Sport is changing at a rapid pace, particularly in the areas of digital engagement and fan experience," said Gualtieri.

"It was important for the BJA to appoint high-calibre, forward-thinking new Board members to help guide us in our quest to help Britain fall in love with judo.

"I am looking forward to working both with Delia and Rebecca."

British Judo chief executive Andrew Scoular stated that the appointments are in line with the body's continuous drive for development, saying, "We have been consciously shaping our board over the past few years to ensure that judo remains relevant to our members, fans and to the British public."

"Delia and Rebecca are a welcome addition to assist us to bring our strategy to fruition," he added.
