Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra has touched down in Chile as he prepares to perform as the headline musical a t of the Pan American Games Opening Ceremony in Santiago tomorrow.

Before he helps to get the Games underway, Yatra toured some of the event's venues.

His first stop was to visit one of his sporting idols and compatriot Mariana Pajón at Parque Peñalolen where the BMX racing competitions are set to take place.

"Mariana has represented Colombia and is one of the most recognised athletes who always gives her all for our country," Yatra said of the double Olympic champion.

"I was with her today and she impressed me as I watched her and saw her sincerity, her charisma and also how attentive she is.

"Giving advice, supporting and telling other athletes how they can improve."

Yatra then paid a visit to the Pan American Village in Cerrillos where he was greeted warmly by Colombian and Chilean athletes.

He walked through the facility taking photos with athletes and volunteers before receiving gifts from the Chilean and Colombian delegations.

The 29-year-old's day concluded at the National Stadium Park that will be the main venue of the Games and the setting for his performance at the Opening Ceremony. 

He has predicted that it will be "an impressive party", while Panam Sports President Neven Ilic has taken the opportunity to show his gratitude to those involved in the curtain-raiser.

"I want to thank everyone who is going to be part of this great event, from the production crews, to Lotus, to Balich and of course Sebastián Yatra," said Ilic.

"There will be a lot of surprises, so Sebastián, thank you very much for being in Chile and thank you very much for being part of this great event that is the inauguration of the Pan American Games."

Santiago 2023 is set to run until November 5 following tomorrow's Opening Ceremony in what is Chile's first hosting of the Pan American Games.

Yatra is a two-time Latin Grammy Award winner with successes coming in the Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Song categories.
