The Ordinary General Assembly of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) replaced four resigning members and swore in the new executives.

The Ordinary General Assembly of the COD took place with 97% of the members present approving the report of the President Garibaldy Bautista, as well as the new members of the Executive Committee. COD President Garibaldy Bautista administered the oath of office to the new members, Rubén Tejada, Miguel Camacho, Miguel Rivera and Gary Hernández.

The ordinary assembly of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) thus replaced four resigning members and swore in the new executives. Lawyer Eugenio Pérez was also approved as treasurer, in order to verify the financial report for the past year and take over the position for the period until 2024.

The new executive members of the COD presented to and ratified by the General Assembly are Rubén Tejeda, from tennis, as third vice-president, with 79 percent; Miguel Camacho, from taekwondo, as third vice-president, with 78 percent; Miguel Rivera, from handball, as second vice-president, with 66 percent; and Gary Hernández, from table tennis, with 69 percent.

In addition to the customary oath, the members of the Assembly requested and approved the postponement of the financial report, which will be considered at an Extraordinary General Assembly within 90 days, duly audited and following legal advice.

The situation arose after the failure of the Executive Committee and the Ordinary General Assembly last year to ratify the auditor. Garibaldy Bautista, President of the COD, said that the former Commissioner, José Cordero, had asked not to continue and requested that someone else be appointed. The COD President stated that the revision of the Statutes would be resumed after Paris 2024.

During the meeting, the president of the Equestrian Federation, engineer José Manuel Ramos, the president of the Athletics Federation, Gerardo Suero, and the president of the Swimming Federation, Radhames Tavárez, repeatedly called on the executive board and the general assembly to respect the statutes, which they said were being violated in some articles.

On the other hand, the lawyer Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz, president of the Volleyball Selection Project, said that he did not like the way things were being handled in the Dominican Olympic Committee and revealed that if the COD crisis reached the International Olympic Committee and the delegation going to Paris carried the Swiss flag instead of the Dominican one, he would resign from the sport.

"That would be the last straw for the sport. If that happens, I will resign from FEDOVOLI," he told the Caribbean press.
